COVINGTON – Mrs. Beryl L. Galloway, 86, of Covington, died at 4 a.m. today (June 7, 1977) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. She had been a patient two months. She was a life resident of Troy Township and a graduate of Covington High. Born Nov. 25, 1890, in Troy Township, Fountain County, she was the daughter of Fred E. and Etta Thompson Layton. She was married on Nov. 25, 1913, to Chauncey Galloway, who died Nov. 26, 1953. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church, Win-One Class and United Methodist Women. A 50-year member of Troy Chapter 145 Order of the Eastern Star, she also was a member of the Wabash-Troy Home Demonstration Club and Senior Citizens, all of Covington. Survivors include a brother, Max T. of Covington; eight nephews, James Layton and Robert Layton, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., John A. Layton of Williamsport, Gene of Danville, Robert Beasley of Veedersburg Route 4, Paul O. Galloway of Covington Route 2, Chester Galloway of Veedersburg Route 3 and Dale Galloway of Cedar Lake, Ill.; and four nieces, Mrs. Laura Dell Keys of Flora, Mrs. Eloise Himebaugh of Evansville, Mrs. Georgianna Eldred of Manitowoc, Wis., Mrs. Mary Margaret Moudy of Covington Route 2 and Mrs. Dorothy Conder of Anderson. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Covington, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services. – jlr
